Sermorelin is a synthetic peptide, a growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) analog, that prompts your pituitary gland to release its own growth hormone. Unlike synthetic growth hormone injections, sermorelin works through your body's own regulation of growth hormone release. It requires a prescription and medical supervision.
In the US, sermorelin is available only as a compounded medication; the branded version was discontinued by its manufacturer in 2008. Compounded medications are prepared by licensed compounding pharmacies and are not FDA-approved. The FDA does not review compounded drugs for safety, effectiveness or quality.
This peptide therapy helps your body increase growth hormone production in a controlled way. As growth hormone levels rise, patients most often report changes in sleep quality and energy, and some report fat reduction and other changes in body composition. Effects and timelines vary by person.
We have treated dozens of patients with sermorelin therapy at New Horizons, and many tell us they notice better sleep and more energy within the first weeks. Results vary from person to person.
